These clients Joy and Brian had plans drawn up by a local
architect for their extension, an Orangery with windows
around three sides. David took a look at the site and
redesigned the proposal with only one wall of full-height
folding doors, which allowed views over the grounds
from the main aspect only. Having two full walls, allowed
for the siting of a wonderful limestone fireplace with tall
carved overmantel, the placement of large statement pieces
of furniture and mirrors which were the focal point.
The Orangery is entered through the
new kitchen, with its
main focal point being the Elica Star crystal extractor over
the large central island. The creams of the hand-painted
bespoke units sit beautifully with the off white granite
work surface. The accents of the elegant carved walnut
pilasters work alongside the feature zebrano drawer fronts
and pewter handles.
We wanted to create pockets of freestanding furniture to
create an elegant sophisticated look, even the sink run is
styled on a cupboard fitment, with the granite worksurface
extending up the wall with a deep curve which allows for
a wall-mounted tap. A Zip tap, which gives instantaneous
boiling and chilled filtered water, is a 'must have' accessory. The appliance fitment houses all Neff equipment, with
Coffee Machine, Warming Drawer, Steam Oven, Microwave and combination oven, in brushed stainless steel.
This new kitchen & orangery is sensational with exquisite
furniture and soft-furnishings.
